While not quite as popular as antique John Deere toys, Case tractors, threshers, spreaders and other farm toys are gaining in poupularity each year.The J.I. Case Corporation was founded by Jerome Increase Case in 1847. The company built threshers. Case began manufacturing steam engines in 1869 and introduced its first steam traction engine in 1878. The company was well known steam tractors and threshers. In 1964 Tenneco a large Oil and Energy company purchased J.I. Case. In 1972 Case became the big tractor power specialist company when it began only producing tractors on the Ag side of its operations. Case became well known for its Traction King 4wds and high horse power row crop tractors. In 1985 J.I. Case became a full line company again when its parent company merged it with International Harvester to form Case International.
